Bramble Lane public entrance, Sneyd Park
Bishop’s Knoll is a small wooded site being recovered from the overgrowth of a former Victorian garden. The local RSPB guide specifically names Bullfinch, Nuthatch and Sparrowhawk among its tree-dwelling birds. Enter from Bramble Lane and take a suitable woodland circuit, using the old terraces and mature trees as the setting for a quiet listening walk. It is a separately managed Woodland Trust property beside other reserves, which are not counted again within this entry. Slopes, long flights of steps and unsurfaced tracks make route choice important; the terraced garden is reached by steep steps.
