Public footpath approach near the Three Pigeons, Graigfechan
Graig Wyllt rises above the Vale of Clwyd on the wooded slopes of a former limestone quarry. Its reserve leaflet names Marsh Tit, Willow Tit and Tawny Owl among the woodland birds, giving a specific reason for a quiet walk beneath the canopy. The landscape opens into scrub and grassland higher up, but the birding visit does not depend on reaching the exposed summit. Enter along the documented public footpath from near the Three Pigeons and keep to existing routes. The steep quarry terrain and unsurfaced paths require care, especially when wet.
