Bude and Pethericks Mill
Bude Canal and Marshes links the town's harbour with freshwater, reedbed and damp grassland farther up the valley. Cornwall Council identifies the marshes at Pethericks Mill as an important summer breeding area for Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Reed Bunting and other wetland birds. The level surfaced towpath gives a clear starting route, with a bird hide offering a focused watching stop rather than a general town-park walk. Visitors can choose a short canal section or follow the towpath towards Helebridge. Access to the marshes is via the Peter Truscott footbridge.
