Near Ascot, Berkshire
Englemere Pond combines a shallow acidic lake and reedbed with alder carr, mixed woodland and small heathland areas. Berkshire Ornithological Club names little grebe, water rail and reed bunting among its resident birds. The council provides two marked circular trails starting at the car park, with a pond-viewing platform and bench. Sleeper bridges and boardwalks cross wetter sections, while the Three Castles Path also passes through the reserve. The lake and woodland therefore offer a compact, varied birding visit. Use the current council approach from Swinley Road; parts near the car park are suitable for wheelchairs, but that description does not cover the entire site.
