Long Lane approach from Gamlingay
Gamlingay Wood offers a substantial ancient-woodland walk, with coppiced areas, broad rides and narrower paths. Blackcap, Song Thrush and Willow Warbler are included in the Wildlife Trust's bird list. Bluebells and other woodland flowers add spring interest, while butterflies use the sunny rides. Public access now needs a deliberate approach: the operator states that there is no parking at the wood and asks visitors not to use road verges. Use the southern permissive approach from Long Lane rather than looking for an unofficial roadside entrance.
