Green lane opposite reserve entrance, near Glapthorn
Glapthorn Cow Pastures is a protected woodland-and-scrub reserve northwest of Oundle. Mature ash woodland in the northern section contrasts with the dense blackthorn habitat farther south, with wide rides and open glades between them. Nightingale, Nuthatch, Chiffchaff and Tawny Owl are individually named in the Trust’s site list. Follow the established rides rather than entering the fenced blackthorn management areas. Butterfly Conservation’s 2026 public open-morning directions confirm the visitor parking approach on the green lane opposite the entrance. This is a woodland listening stop with wet-weather limitations, rather than a surfaced park circuit.
