Woodland entrance off the B4087 near Bishop’s Tachbrook

Oakley Wood offers a marked woodland birding walk through a site being restored from plantation conifers towards a more diverse native wood. The Trust names Kestrel, Song Thrush and Willow Warbler among the birds to look for along its trails. Choose the shorter circuit or a longer woodland-edge loop and listen along the rides and broadleaf patches. Use the woodland visitor parking at the entrance and respect the adjoining crematorium’s separate operational areas. Restoration work can temporarily affect paths, so follow the current route signs rather than assuming every track remains open.

Getting there: Use the B4087 entrance signed for Oakley Wood and follow the woodland-parking instructions on arrival. The shared postcode CV33 9QP also serves crematorium activity, so it is not a promise of access to its reserved spaces. Ask the operator if the marked visitor car park is unavailable.
