Near Llansannan, Conwy

Blaenyweirglodd offers a compact upland birding stop near Llansannan, with redstart, redpoll and linnet named by the Trust. The reserve protects a small peat bog within a farmed landscape. Its permissive perimeter path is the way to explore: the bog itself is vulnerable to trampling and contains open peat. This is a visit for the edge habitat rather than a circuit across the wet centre. The approach crosses open fields, where cattle or sheep may be present. The Trust’s directions identify a roadside lay-by before a field crossing and kissing gate; that public arrival point is used here.
