Birdwatching in Conwy

By Does Your Duck Quack · Planning updated 27 October 2026

The contrast between Conwy’s lagoons and the Little Orme helps shape a birding day around the kind of walk you want. RSPB Conwy offers a choice of wetland trails and hide views. Its lagoon islands become important for Curlew, Redshank and other waders as the tide rises, while late-winter afternoons may bring Starling flocks over the reeds. The roughly third-mile Blue Tit Trail introduces the wildlife garden and reedbed boardwalk. Including that section within the Redshank Trail makes a route of almost a mile, passing Bridge Pond on the way to the lagoon hides. Rhiwledyn, on the Little Orme, replaces those wetland paths with limestone slopes, scrub and an exposed coastal outlook. Fulmar, Cormorant and Chough appear in the Wildlife Trust’s bird list, without individual months being specified. Its public footpath approach is near Penrhyn Hill, with promenade parking described by the manager. The walk is strenuous, and wet slopes and unprotected cliff edges make its route demands quite different from the lagoon visit.
