Station Wynd, Doune

Doune Ponds is a nature reserve created from former gravel workings, with water and woodland linked by an established path network. Stirling Council’s exact-site statement names Teal, Goldeneye and Yellowhammer among its birds, alongside a longer selection of wildfowl and woodland species. Start from the Station Wynd car park and choose a circuit around the ponds rather than extending into the separate River Teith route. The community woodland group has improved paths, viewing facilities and bridges, giving this a clear reserve-based birdwatching focus within walking distance of Doune.

Getting there: The managers confirm public access from Station Wynd. Additional parking is available at the council car park on the A84, with steps up to the reserve. The map uses the council’s reserve-area grid rather than a parking bay.
