East Winch, east of King’s Lynn · PE32 1NP
East Winch Common is a remnant of the heathland that once covered much more of west Norfolk. Several sandy paths divide the reserve, so it works well as a short open-country walk with time to look through gorse and woodland edges. NWT highlights Linnet and Meadow Pipit in autumn, with Siskin in winter. The other seasonal attractions are chiefly reptiles, insects and heathland plants, making this a mixed wildlife stop rather than a specialist wetland reserve. Grazing ponies help keep the habitat open. Its position near the A47 makes it a practical addition to a visit based around King’s Lynn.
