Near Heysham docks, Morecambe

Heysham Nature Reserve is a small wetland and scrub reserve close to the docks, with public footpaths through reedbed and grassland habitats. Lancashire Wildlife Trust names Whitethroat and Willow Warbler among its spring and summer birds, while Water Rail, Snipe and Woodcock use the wetter edges in winter. April and May are highlighted for migration, making this a useful compact stop within a wider Morecambe Bay visit. The reserve remains accessible on foot outside the car park's opening hours. Its dog-free reserve should be distinguished from the adjoining landscape strip and separate nature park.
