Homestead visitor arrival, Coldstream
The Hirsel combines a lake watched from the public estate walks with mature woodland around Coldstream. Its dedicated lake and woodland routes provide a practical birding circuit, with the SOC naming winter Goldeneye and Goosander on the loch and resident Nuthatch in the trees. The estate says its walks open every day of the year and provides paid visitor parking at the Homestead. Choose the Lake Walk for open-water views, extending into woodland only as time and conditions allow. The estate’s named walks connect the lake and woodland, giving a choice of settings within the same visitor destination.
