Meadow Lane approach from Kelling village · NR25 7EL
Kelling Water Meadows and the Quags offer a coastal birding walk from Meadow Lane, using public approaches beside the wetland rather than entering private fields. Cley Bird Club describes spring and autumn migrants in the lane hedges, calling Quail in the fields and autumn Jack Snipe in the Quags north of the pool. Its October 2026 survey also records Wigeon on the Water Meadow. These records guide expectations rather than guarantee birds on a visit. Kelling Hard provides a seawatching point beyond the wetland. The club identifies approaches from Kelling village or Salthouse and warns that parking needs care.
When to go and where to look
Kelling's club guide points to spring and autumn migrants along Meadow Lane, with Quail reported from the adjoining fields and Jack Snipe mainly in autumn in the Quags north of the pool. An October 2026 club survey also documents Wigeon on the Water Meadow. Watch from the permitted lane and coastal paths rather than entering the wetland or fields. Kelling Hard adds a possible seawatch if the weather and public route allow. Choose the walking approach from Kelling or Salthouse before arrival, and keep any roadside parking clear of access. These are seasonal possibilities, not assured sightings.
