Roadside reserve parking east of Selkirk
Lindean Loch occupies a lime-rich hollow east of Selkirk, where former marl extraction and water-supply works left a wetland now managed for nature. The Council confirms the reserve is open to everyone and provides parking, a lochside path and an accessible viewing jetty. Reed Bunting, Sedge Warbler and Water Rail are named specifically for the loch’s reeds and sedges in its countryside guide. Watch the margins from established viewpoints rather than entering the fen. A short easy-access approach reaches the viewing platform, while the complete circuit follows rougher countryside paths and can be wet.
