Grange Farm Lane, Chigwell · IG7 6DP
Roding Valley Meadows offers an extensive river-meadow landscape between Chigwell and Loughton. Essex Wildlife Trust names Song Thrush, Blackcap and Whitethroat in the hedges during spring and summer. Meadows, ponds, scrub and wooded sections give the walking routes variety, with different public approaches on either side of the valley. Choose the entrance and surface that suit your group before arriving, rather than assuming every connection is equally easy. Grazing cattle help maintain the meadows, so keep dogs controlled and close gates behind you. This is a useful longer nearby walk with birdsong as one part of the experience.
