Central Benbecula

The Rueval trail starts from a public car park and follows a track east across Benbecula's low moorland and lochs. The RSPB-partner trail names Hen Harrier, Merlin and Short-eared Owl, recommending April to July for these birds. A visit can focus on scanning from the track without committing to the separate climb onto Rueval's summit. The broad habitat and changing views provide the interest, so keep to the established route and avoid approaching birds across the heather. This is an outdoor moorland visit rather than a sheltered hide stop, with no visitor services confirmed at the watching point.

Getting there: Follow the Rueval Footpath sign from the A865 about four miles north of Creag Ghoraidh. The published trail car park is roughly half a mile from the main road. The pin uses the public start grid NF812534, corroborated by a separate walking guide; keep the depot access clear.
