Adur Estuary is a convenient riverside birdwatching stop beside Shoreham-by-Sea. The meeting of saltmarsh and tidal mud gives feeding waders and wildfowl different places to use as the water changes. Oystercatchers, Ringed Plovers and Little Egrets are among the birds named by the RSPB; Redshanks and Lapwings add further interest. Watch from the surrounding public footpaths, keeping outside the restricted reserve. Low water exposes feeding ground, while higher water changes the outlook across the saltmarsh. A visit combines easily with walking along Shoreham's riverside.
