Consall Woods fills part of the steep-sided Churnet valley with woodland, meadows, pools and riverside habitat. Its variety makes it a rewarding place to listen for woodland birds and then watch a different selection beside the water. The RSPB highlights spring Blackbirds, Wrens and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, later Redstarts, and autumn Dippers and Grey Wagtails. Winter brings interest from Willow and Marsh Tits. Several walking routes and the towpath offer different lengths and gradients. Choose the route to match your mobility before committing to the steeper valley-side paths.
