Northwich Woodlands, north of Northwich
Ashton’s and Neumann’s Flashes occupy reclaimed industrial land within the Northwich Woodlands. Public paths and hides make the wetland practical for a focused birdwatching stop from Witton Mill. The RSPB Chester group’s March 2024 account specifically places Shoveler, Shelduck and Water Rail at Neumann’s Flash, after leaving Marbury; those records are not assigned to neighbouring woodland or meadows. The two flashes form a linked wetland destination, with open water and vegetated edges viewed along the public paths. The combination of open water, islands and vegetated margins gives different viewing opportunities around the public route, with birds watched from the paths and hides.
