Roseisle Forest public arrival, west of Burghead
Burghead Bay is a named winter sea-duck locality in the county bird-club account, which includes Common Scoter, Long-tailed Duck and Eider. Roseisle Forest provides an official public approach to this bay’s shore, with signed routes from the forest car park. Make this a shore-watching visit, choosing a sheltered point on the permitted route and allowing time to scan the offshore water. The birds may be distant, so a telescope can be more useful than a hurried beach walk. Roseisle’s forest tracks give an alternative walking route when exposed shoreline conditions make lingering uncomfortable.
