Llantwit Major

Cwm Colhuw occupies the valley slope behind Llantwit Major beach, with coastal grassland, scrub and ash woodland linked by public paths. The Wildlife Trust names Yellowhammer and Grasshopper Warbler among its nesting scrub birds, alongside summer Willow Warbler and Whitethroat. It offers a birding stop above the beach rather than simply a walk along the sand. The grassland and hedgerows can be watched from the permitted routes, with no need to approach nesting cover. Entry from the beach car park involves steps, and clifftop sections require care, particularly when the weather is windy or wet.
