Llandeilo
Dinefwr Castle Woods covers ancient woodland on the slopes above the River Tywi. Veteran trees and a varied understorey provide a setting for Green Woodpecker, Treecreeper and Nuthatch, all named by the Wildlife Trust. The woodland is linked to the wider Dinefwr landscape, with castle ruins above the water meadows adding an obvious landmark. Treat the woods and their connected public approaches as one birding place, rather than separate stops. Paths can be steep, and the useful lower-level access does not make the whole reserve suitable for wheelchairs.
