North Road, Retford · DN22 8RQ
Idle Valley provides an extensive inland wetland outing north of Retford, with lakes, grassland and scrub explored from a visitor-centre arrival. Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust names Gadwall and Little Grebe for winter, with Little Ringed Plover and Redshank among its spring and summer breeding waders. Four designated walking routes give visitors a way to choose a manageable part of the reserve rather than trying to cover its full length. The mix of open water and wetland edges makes a deliberate birding stop, while the centre supplies practical support during its opening hours.
