Glen Feshie, south of Feshiebridge
Invereshie and Inshriach spans pinewood and upland habitats above Glen Feshie. NatureScot's spring plan names Crossbill, Golden Eagle and Peregrine, with very different chances of a view across the reserve's habitats. Start from the documented public car park and choose a suitable walk through the lower landscape or towards higher ground. The reserve has no waymarked trails, and the Sgor Gaoith route is a mountain walk with steep and loose sections. Enjoy birds from established public routes, leaving quiet breeding areas undisturbed. The best plan is the one that matches your navigation skills and the day's conditions.
When to go and where to look
NatureScot highlights spring for Crossbill and the possibility of Golden Eagle and Peregrine above Invereshie and Inshriach’s woods. Begin from the main public car park on the Achlean road and choose how far to walk towards the Allt Ruadh. A shorter outing samples the change from valley woodland towards open hill without committing to Sgòr Gaoith. The longer summit route is strenuous, with steep and loose sections, and there are no waymarked reserve trails. Match the plan to your navigation ability and mountain conditions. Watch from the established path and avoid turning a bird search into an approach towards breeding habitat.
