Ridge Road, near Kippax and Castleford
Ledston Luck has developed from a former colliery into a habitat mosaic of ponds, meadow, scrub and young woodland. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust names Willow Tit and Green Woodpecker among its birds, with summer Grasshopper Warbler and winter Yellowhammer included in the seasonal account. A marked walking route links the different habitats and offers a compact birding stop rather than a general recreation park visit. Muddy paths and occasional grazing need to be factored into the route. Use the nearby enterprise-park arrival and keep dogs on short leads so the recovering woodland, grassland and wetland remain undisturbed.
