Lemsford Village, near Welwyn Garden City
Lemsford Springs is a small wetland reserve centred on former watercress beds, where spring-fed lagoons provide feeding habitat for waterbirds. The Wildlife Trust highlights Green Sandpiper in autumn, Water Rail in winter and Kingfisher in spring. Watching is from the hides and the permitted approach, with the current notice stating that bank erosion has made the circular walk impassable while the hides remain accessible. Visiting arrangements must be confirmed with the Trust before travel. The compact lagoons reward a quiet hide session without needing to enter the marsh or attempt the closed circuit.
