Strathblane (1 mi / 1.6 km)

Loch Ardinning brings wetland, woodland and moorland together beside the A81 north of Milngavie. Willow, birch and alder occupy the south-western shore, while reeds, rushes and sedges fringe the north. Reed Bunting, Snipe and Crossbill are named in the Trust’s reserve wildlife selection. Waymarked paths make it possible to explore these contrasting habitats without stepping into the wet margins. The Muir path can be muddy and slippery after rain. Use the public roadside parking described by the operator, keeping the dam’s utility area available for staff and emergency access.
