Between Devizes and Calne, Wiltshire

Morgan’s Hill provides an open chalk-grassland birding stop between Devizes and Calne. The Trust names kestrel, yellowhammer and skylark on the reserve. The Wansdyke earthwork borders the southern side and a Roman road follows its northern edge, helping define this compact downland landscape. Two waymarked loops offer different lengths across the slopes. Livestock grazing and scrub management maintain the open habitat. Public arrival is from the Smallgrain Picnic Area approach, followed by a walk up to the byway and towards the reserve. Ordinary wheelchairs and pushchairs are not suitable here; use the route information to plan an appropriate downland walk.
