Meldreth Road between Shepreth and Meldreth

Shepreth L-Moor combines wet hollows, drier chalk grassland and scrub beside a small chalk stream. The Wildlife Trust's species list includes Bullfinch, Green Woodpecker and Song Thrush. Its L-shaped meadow was left unploughed for centuries, with anthills and old paths still visible. Spring and summer bring flowers and insects as well as birdwatching. Reaching the grassland involves narrow bridges from the road, and the meadow paths are rough. Grazing livestock are part of its management, rather than a reason to leave the authorised route.
