Hardwater Road, near Wollaston · NN29 7TD

Summer Leys offers a wetland visit around an old gravel pit near Wollaston. The main lake, shallow scrape and islands give birds several places to feed and rest. The Trust highlights winter Goosander, Wigeon and Gadwall, with a different mixture of breeding waders and terns later in the year. Choose a few unhurried views rather than following every movement around the water. Use the permitted paths and watching places, leaving the muddy margins to wildlife. The visitor centre and toilets have shorter opening arrangements than the wider reserve.
