Heath entrance, Tiptree · CO5 0PT

Tiptree Heath provides a contrasting inland walk among heather, scrub and rough grassland. Essex Wildlife Trust identifies Nightingale and Cuckoo in spring and summer, with Yellowhammer also named in the reserve description. These are watching possibilities, not a promise of birds on each route. The network of paths allows a short visit without trying to cover the entire common. The heath is maintained with grazing animals, so dogs need close control and extra care near livestock. Use the main entrance car park, then follow the established tracks rather than making new paths through the vegetation.
