County Londonderry
Banagher Glen protects steep, wooded river valleys south of Dungiven. The official protected-area account names Wood Warbler, Redstart and Peregrine among its notable birds, making this a woodland-bird destination under the one-star rule. Visitors should keep to the surfaced access road through the glen, as requested by the site manager to protect fragile soils and young trees. The council describes a return walk from the car park towards the dam, with steep sections on the ascent. Listen and watch from that permitted route without seeking nests or entering the gorge slopes. Conditions and the gradient matter more here than covering a long circuit.
