Medmenham, west of Marlow

Homefield Wood is a compact reserve of woodland and grassy glades on a warm Chiltern slope. Its canopy includes beech, ash, sycamore and whitebeam, while the clearings create an edge habitat worth checking during a short visit. The Wildlife Trust names Cuckoo, Blackcap and Tawny Owl here, with the owl sometimes heard calling by day. Watching is from the public paths through the wood and open ground. This is a small site with only a handful of parking spaces, so avoid making an improvised space on the access track or obstructing the forestry entrance when it is busy.
