Scottish Dolphin Centre, Tugnet, east side of the Spey mouth
Spey Bay brings the River Spey’s estuary and changing shingle coast together in one destination. The county bird-club guide identifies Wigeon, Teal and Goldeneye among the winter wildfowl using the estuary. Begin at the Scottish Dolphin Centre’s Tugnet arrival on the eastern bank and watch from established public ground, allowing feeding birds space. Both banks belong to the reserve visit, offering different viewpoints over the same river-mouth landscape. The Spey/Garmouth viaduct partially collapsed in December 2025 and removal work has been commissioned; do not plan a bridge crossing or follow older circular-walk descriptions through the closed structure.
