Ferrers Road approach, South Woodham Ferrers · CM3 5ZF

Woodham Fen brings saltmarsh and rough grassland together beside Fenn Creek. Essex Wildlife Trust names Bullfinch in the bushes, Kingfisher along the creek and Teal among winter visitors. The railway divides parts of the wider common, so use the established public routes rather than treating the landscape as unrestricted open ground. A short circular walk gives a different perspective from the busier estuary reserves. Livestock sometimes graze the site, and dogs must remain controlled. This is a nearby nature stop with very limited parking; plan the approach carefully and keep access clear for other users.
