Wolves Wood is a compact ancient woodland reserve near Hadleigh, managed through coppicing and by retaining the wet conditions of its clay soil. Dense growth and older trees give cover for birds including Dunnock, Blackcap and Garden Warbler. A marked circular trail provides a straightforward way to explore, with pauses for song especially useful in spring. It is a woodland walk rather than a visitor-centre stop, and the paths hold water after rain. Take suitable footwear and use the raised bridges carefully; their layout prevents a reliable continuous wheelchair circuit.
