Rheidol Valley
Coed Simdde Lwyd is an ancient oak woodland on a steep, south-facing slope above the Rheidol. The Wildlife Trust names Pied Flycatcher, Redstart and Wood Warbler among its breeding birds, making this a focused woodland birding stop. Sessile Oak dominates much of the canopy, while a stream at the eastern side brings a wider mixture of trees and damp woodland plants. Public footpaths provide access, but many are steep. Parking is especially limited, so this suits an individual woodland walk with a planned arrival rather than an impromptu group visit.
