Birdwatching in Lincolnshire

By Does Your Duck Quack · Sources reviewed 25 October 2026 · Planning updated 27 October 2026

Choose the Wash for Frampton and Freiston, the coast near Skegness for Gibraltar Point, or the Humber side for Far Ings. Frampton combines freshwater scrapes, reedbed, wet grassland and saltmarsh, with passage waders, summer Avocets and winter ducks and geese shaping different visits. Freiston adds a saline lagoon and estuary setting. Far Ings changes the emphasis to reedbeds and freshwater lakes, where Bittern, Bearded Tit and Water Rail are among the birds. Gibraltar Point joins dunes, saltmarsh and freshwater wetland beside the coast. Inland, Whisby Nature Park provides lake hides and short waymarked walks from its Moor Lane entrance. Willow Tree Fen has a more restricted visit: watching is from the official car-park viewpoint, with no independent access through the fen. Tetney Marshes is reached from Humberston Fitties rather than roadside verges or gateways. These named destinations spread across the county and suit different routes and seasons; the Wash, Humber and inland wetlands are separate planning choices rather than one continuous reserve circuit.
